There Is No Royal Road in a War

April 1, while the Incheon church construction was proceeding in full throttle, we left for Mexico once again. We arrived at Torreon, an industrial city in Mexico via L.A., U.S. and Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. The gray buildings and dry grounds surrounding the city made the city look rather desolate. As we headed to our hotel, we became increasingly convinced that the raining down of the Holy Spirit and the power of this Living Water was desperately needed here.

Pastor Gerardo, from Monterrey, Mexico, attended numerous Crusades that were held in different cities throughout Mexico, and so blessed by the grace of God through Senior Pastor Lee¡¯s Crusades that he even attended the Leadership Conference in Korea. Henceforth, fully assured in faith that Mexico will experience a revival if pastors in Mexico were to unite and host Senior Pastor Lee¡¯s Crusades, he travels around the country with the Work of the Holy Spirit video, organizing Crusades in different cities.

This Crusade in Torreon, Mexico, was no exception. Pastor Victor, director of the Pastors¡¯ Association, received the videotape of Senior Pastor Lee from Pastor Gerardo, and being convinced that ¡°Rev. C.S. Lee¡¯s ministry is the true way of bringing the lost souls to Christ,¡± he and the president of the association, along with the pastors in Torreon, decided to host a Crusade, while putting their own church programs on hold.

On the morning of the first day of the Crusade, Radio-Rama radio station requested an interview with Senior Pastor Lee. On the way to the radio station, we heard a radio announcer shout in excitement: ¡°Lee Cho Suk! Lee Cho Suk!¡± adding, ¡°God has sent an empowered pastor to this city! Please give ear to God¡¯s message to us. I ask all of you to stop what you¡¯re doing for a second and gather in front of the radio and listen carefully!¡± It was as though he was issuing some sort of an emergency warning.

The interview lasted about an hour. Senior Pastor Lee sowed seeds of hope and of heaven where no tears and death exist, but freedom, adding that believing in Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. Moreover, he spoke about the existence of demons and the Holy Spirit, the importance of discarding all forms of idolatry and meeting and establishing a personal relationship with the risen Christ. He also emphasized the importance of praying continually and working with diligence, so that the nation may rise up in prosperity.

When asked for words of advice to those who were mourning the death of Pope John Paul ¥±, Senior Pastor Lee answered, ¡°I didn¡¯t come to preach Catholicism, or to be a witness to the Protestant church. I came here to preach Jesus Christ, who is living. There is no intercessor except Jesus. Everyone must face death. What¡¯s important is the judgment after death, in front of God. Those who have done more will be rewarded with more. Don¡¯t grieve over the Pope¡¯s death, but rather, go forth and be a witness of Jesus.¡± Surprisingly, we got the report that the radio station was flooded with overwhelming amounts of phone calls from listeners during the course of the interview.

Auditorio Municipal de Torreon, a gymnasium where the Crusade was held, was crowded from the first day. Many who were sick came, more so in comparison to other cities. For us, a Crusade is like being in a war. There is no such thing as practice in a war. There is no royal road to a war, either. War is that which must be won.

Hoping for the glory of God to shine through with the manifest works of the Holy Spirit, the Crusade began with Senior Pastor Lee¡¯s message to the congregation: ¡°God cannot tell a lie. Those who come to God in true repentance and weeping prayers will receive the fire of the Holy Spirit, and you will be healed and cleansed as demons are driven out.¡±

Amid fervent prayers, demons began shaking many violently and were brought up to the pulpit, including some who were carrying an oxygen tank. After receiving the laying on of hands from Senior Pastor Lee, a person who had been relying on an oxygen tank for two years was completely healed. Watching all this, others began removing their oxygen tank with their own hands in faith. The Crusade turned into a scene of wild excitement at that very moment. (Continued next week)
