This was during my days in the Marine Corps. Undergoing an intensive training regiment for the purposes of troop dispatchment for the Vietnam War, we often trained at sea where some got seasick quite frequently.
The training instructors threw these men who got seasick into the sea. The instructors then waited until the men were utterly exhausted, and pulled them up only to have them thrown back into the sea if they got seasick again. And not one of the instructors explained their reasons for this. However, as this took place over and over again, the number of men getting seasick noticeably decreased to the point where no one was getting seasick, regardless of how strong the currents were.
There is no inherent connection between getting seasick and being able to swim. The instructors simply reconstructed the marines¡¯ mind-sets by strict discipline and tightening their nerves. By embedding the idea that they will be thrown into the sea if they got seasick, the instructors were able to produce the desired, physiological effect. Like so, everything stems from our mind-sets. Where there is a will, there is a way. The mind has primacy over the body. Therefore, nothing proves impossible with proper thinking. The surplus presence of impossibilities in our lives means that the thought of impossibility has gained a stronghold.
I live with the mind-set: ¡°I can do everything in God who gives me the power.¡± I thereby paved a tunnel and went through the mountain-like obstacles that lay before me. That mind-set has made me what I am today. It¡¯s possible for you as well. Nothing is impossible for us. There only exists the thought of impossibility. Cast down that thought and rise up with vision and go forth to conquer the future.
